Plop!
While playing on his favourite beach, a scruffy, brown dog finds a curious trinket in the sand and nuzzles it over his head for safekeeping. But what happens when it slips from his neck and lands – PLOP! – in a rock pool?
This is the first children's book I've written, and is illustrated with beautiful original paintings. |
A brush with the coast
This is the lavishly illustrated story of one girl and her dog, documenting their adventures walking the South West Coast Path. The girl, an artist needing inspiration for an exhibition, roped in her reluctant Ridgeback as her sidekick and together they embarked on a six-hundred-and-thirty-mile walk, taking seven weeks and changing their lives forever. The artist, with her sketchbook in hand, found her inspiration and saw the best and worst of human nature, experienced the most beautiful and wild landscapes and discovered an enduring love for the simple act of walking. The dog caught a rabbit, travelled on a stream train and followed wherever the artist led.
This is a book celebrating the beauty and diversity of the South West Coast Path, see through an artist's eyes. An experience that one girl and her dog will never forget... |
a brush with anglesey
Three years after walking the South West Coast Path, I was more than ready to continue my exploration of Britain's coastline and embark on a new challenge. This time, I took on the Isle of Anglesey, walking the length of its coastline in an eleven-day adventure full of revelations and discoveries.
Anglesey turned out to have everything an avid walker – and artist – could possibly ask for: breathtaking beaches, magical forests, heart-pumping climbs up to lofty cliffs, knee-shaking descents into secluded valleys, and a surprise around every corner. With its white ladies, rare corvids, satanic horses, and even a church in the sea, the island provided inspiration aplenty for the paintings and drawings that richly illustrate this beautiful book. Join me, my loyal Rhodesian Ridgeback Jess and the new recruits – wayward Border terrier Mouse, Scrabble-champion husband Jack and temperamental-yet-homely camper van Pam – in this story of our journey around Anglesey, all seen through the eyes of an artist. |
